1. What TodoQuest is
TodoQuest is an iOS family app for parents of kids ages 7-9. It turns daily routines into a game: the parent defines missions and a reward shop; the kid completes missions and earns coins; the kid spends coins on real-world rewards the parent has promised.
TodoQuest is a tool for family conversation, not a contract enforcement system. The coin balance has no real-money value. The reward shop is a list of promises your family agrees to honor; TodoQuest tracks them but does not deliver them. You (the parent) are responsible for fulfilling the rewards you put in the shop.
2. Accounts and family roles
- Parent (admin) — anyone who signs in with Apple and creates or accepts a family. The first admin is the Owner; up to 5 admins per family (parent, co-parent, grandparents).
- Kid (profile) — a profile created and managed by an admin. Kids do not have separate Apple IDs in TodoQuest. Up to 3 kid profiles per family (Free tier is 1 kid; Premium unlocks 3).
- You must be at least 18 years old to create or be an admin of a TodoQuest family.
- You confirm you are the parent or legal guardian of any kid whose profile you create. You consent to processing of that child's data under PIPA Article 22-2 (Korea) and COPPA (US) on the child's behalf.
- You are responsible for keeping your Apple ID, device PIN, and parent-lock biometric secure. Admins can see and edit all family data.
3. Rewards and the coin economy
The coin economy is the heart of TodoQuest. A few important things to know:
- Coins have no real-money value. They are an in-app counter you set the meaning of by stocking the reward shop.
- Coins are credited instantly when your kid taps complete on a mission. The parent never needs to approve them before they appear in the kid's balance.
- Coins are never taken back. Even if you think a mission wasn't done well, even if a photo is unconvincing, the coin stays. This is a deliberate design choice — see §4.
- You define the rewards — screen time, ice cream, library trip, movie night pick, anything that motivates your kid. The app provides templates but you choose what's in the shop.
- You honor the rewards. When a kid redeems, the app records an IOU and reminds you. The actual reward (handing over the controller, going to the store) is on you. Honor your IOUs — the entire coin economy depends on this.
- Kid-proposed rewards — from the Sturdy tier onward, your kid can propose a reward and a coin price. You confirm or adjust the price with one tap. At Trusted Star tier, unanswered proposals auto-confirm after 3 hours.
- Kid-created missions — kids can add their own missions, tier-gated by daily cap (2/3/5) and earning a fixed small reward (+3 to +5 coins). Parents see them in the Sunday recap; there is no daily approval.
- The Free tier limits family to 1 kid, 5 daily missions, 8 rewards. Premium unlocks 3 kids, unlimited missions, seasonal mission packs, and KR reward templates.
4. Trust-based design (and what we deliberately removed)
TodoQuest's design philosophy is locked to a trust-based, no-penalty model. The following are deliberate, not bugs:
- No reject button. The choices for a parent reviewing a photo are Nice or Show me more — never "Failed" or "Try again". The note attached to "Show me more" is a friendly message, not a transaction reversal.
- No coin clawback. A 24-hour grace window auto-approves photo completions whose parent never reviewed them, so the kid is never left waiting.
- No daily-decision burden on the parent. Approval is asynchronous and forgiving. Sunday wins are a recap of wins.
- No suspicion mechanics. Photo proof is per-mission opt-in, off by default. We assume good faith; the kid says it's done and the coin lands.
- Daily star matching is blind — neither side sees the other's rating until both submit. Mismatched ratings (≥3 stars apart) earn 0 bonus but never a penalty.
We won't add features that violate these principles, even when requested. If you want a chore app with point reversal or quizzed-on-completion, TodoQuest is not the right tool.
5. Photos and content
- Photos attached to missions are stored only in your family iCloud and auto-delete after 30 days. See the Privacy Policy for details.
- You confirm that any photo your kid uploads is something you're comfortable having other family admins (e.g., grandparents you invited) see.
- Daily review messages from both the kid and parent are stored similarly. The parent's message helper text guides toward an observation/encouragement tone, not teaching/scolding.
- You retain all rights to content you create in TodoQuest. We do not claim a license to use your missions, rewards, photos, or messages for marketing, training, or any other purpose.
6. Subscriptions and payments
- Premium is offered via Apple StoreKit. We do not see your payment method. Apple handles billing, renewals, and refunds.
- Subscription tiers (Korean storefront, prices in your local currency at parity): ₩4,900 monthly, ₩39,000 yearly, ₩89,000 lifetime. The lifetime option is a one-time purchase that grants Premium permanently for that Apple ID, including future versions.
- Auto-renewal — monthly and yearly subscriptions renew automatically. Cancel any time in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iOS device. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; no partial refunds for unused time.
- Refunds — handled by Apple per their refund policy: reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds directly.
- Restore — "Restore Purchases" in the app brings back any prior entitlement attached to your Apple ID.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use TodoQuest to coerce, punish, or surveil a child.
- Use TodoQuest commercially (classroom-as-a-service, daycare billing, etc.).
- Attempt to reverse-engineer or extract data from the app, the CloudKit container, or the StoreKit configuration.
- Upload illegal content, content depicting minors in unsafe situations, or content you don't have rights to.
- Misrepresent your parent-or-guardian status. TodoQuest assumes adult admins are who they say they are.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules without prior notice.
8. Disclaimers and liability
TodoQuest is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do our best to keep it stable and respectful, but we make no promises about:
- iCloud sync availability or speed. Sync depends on Apple's infrastructure and your family's connectivity.
- Mission and reward fulfillment. The app records and reminds; you decide whether to honor an IOU and how. We are not party to the family agreement between you and your kid.
- Parental outcomes. TodoQuest is a tool, not a parenting program. We do not promise that your kid will become more independent, less defiant, or sleep better. Family dynamics depend on a lot more than coin balances.
- Backup. Your data lives in your iCloud. We do not maintain a separate backup we can restore from.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Codeful is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages, including loss of data, lost rewards, family disagreements, or any non-honored IOU. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the amount you have paid for Premium in the 12 months preceding the claim.
9. Termination
You can stop using TodoQuest and delete your account at any time. Deleting your account removes all of your family's data within 30 days, except for records we must retain for legal or tax reasons (typically subscription receipts for 7 years).
We may terminate or suspend the service, or close specific accounts, if we believe the service is being misused or if continuing it becomes unworkable. We will give you reasonable notice and an opportunity to export your data unless the termination is for cause (e.g., abusive use under §7).
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Disputes will be heard in the competent courts of Gyeonggi-do, Korea, except where consumer protection laws of your country require otherwise (in which case those local laws and courts apply for the parts of the dispute they cover).
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when the app changes. Material changes are announced inside the app at least 30 days before they take effect, with a one-tap link to the new version. Continued use of TodoQuest after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.
